Headed by Dr. David Sailor, UCRC or Urban Climate Research Center, is an interdisciplinary and highly collaborative hub of social and physical scientists, planners and designers, health researchers, and engineers. I joined the UCRC team on September 2016 as a GIS analyst to aid with the research on hydrology, etc. My experience with GIS here helped me learn key skills like fish netting and geocoding. Having had experience with urban heat islands and weather research tools like weather research forecasting (WRF), I was able to provide useful input towards the development of novel techniques to study the urban metabolism.
