All great things start with a dream. Mine is to make the world a better and safer place.
As an environmental engineer specializing in water treatment, contaminant transport, material toxicity, and wastewater-based epidemiology, I am driven to create sustainable and equitable water management solutions. Inspired by my father’s career as a doctor in India, I understand the profound impact of clean water on public health. My research aims to protect both human health and the environment by developing innovative water treatment technologies, investigating contaminants transport, assessing material toxicity, and advancing wastewater-based epidemiology.
Witnessing firsthand the challenges posed by inadequate water infrastructure and the devastating consequences of waterborne diseases, I am committed to developing innovative approaches that address these critical issues. Together, I can envision us:
Developing advanced water treatment technologies: While we have made huge strides in the sciences that govern water treatment technologies, there is yet a lot to be discovered. With the advent of Nanotech and advanced oxidation processes, we can now achieve efficiencies like never before. My background in research gives us a great advantage in tackling research questions new and old.
Creating new framework: Advance innovative frameworks. During my PhD, I developed a proprietary framework that uses advances in material transparency initiatives like Health Product Declarations developed by HPD collaborative and the novel approach of wastewater-based epidemiology.
My ultimate goal is to create a world where everyone has access to safe, clean water and sanitation, not exposed to hazardous substances, and improve public health. By combining my technical expertise with a deep-seated commitment to social justice, I believe I can make a significant contribution to achieving this vision. My research will not only improve public health but also promote sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
